Over the last couple of years SELBCT has been keen to support patients and their families as they go through their treatment for breast cancer.
Following training from Macmillan we are able to offer some ‘one to one’ support to individuals but we also wanted to create a network where patients and their families could come together to share experiences and support each other. Therefore a number of trustees and supporters of the charity who have been through treatment for breast cancer are going to come together on a regular basis at BMI The Sloane Hospital in Albemarle Road, Beckenham.
The first meeting will be held on 27th November at 7.30 pm where we’ll be joined by local Breast Care Nurses. At the first meeting we hope that anyone who is interested will simply come along just to get to know people and chat about experiences or current worries over a cup of tea or a glass of wine.
We can then work out together what we would like to get from future meetings. We have in mind visits from nutritionists and relaxation experts along with various medical specialists but most importantly we want to provide a support network for people as they go through this very challenging period and beyond as we know you can need just as much support when your treatment finishes.
We hope lots of you will come along and join us. Please register your interest via our charity phone on 07796 543687. We look forward to meeting lots of you on 27th November 2013
